Acetarc treatment ladles are based on over 40 years experience of ladle manufacture combined with feedback from foundries on how the treatment ladles perform, both from a metallurgical perspective and from a practical handling perspective.
What our experience has taught us is that there is no such thing as a standard foundry and that each foundry has its own way of doing things.
Therefore designs can be tailored to suit each foundry’s specific requirements but at the same time we have noted which points of design or operation are common to most foundries.
The treatment ladle designs offered therefore represent a pooling of our experience and the feedback from a wide range of foundries, around the world. From small local foundries that might only melt once or twice a week through to multinational automotive foundries working 24/7.
Why use a specially designed Treatment Ladle?
It is our experience that, at a pinch, any ladle can be used to make S.G. (Ductile) iron but the small investment in buying a ladle that is specifically designed for the treatment process will soon pay for itself by offering:

• Consistent results |
It should be noted that there are many variables in the treatment process, especially with respect to the choice of the additions, the composition of the base metal and the way in which each foundry operates. Consequently, we have found that there is no single ideal method to produce ductile iron and no “one size fits all” solution.
However, what we have found is that all foundries can achieve consistent quality castings by adjusting the variable factors to suit their particular requirements.
Also, that the ideal theoretical design considerations often have to be tempered by the practical needs of each foundry.
